In July 1970 a few hundred of us joined the Royal Australian Navy. We were aged between 15 and 16. For most of us were embarking on the adventure of a lifetime. HMAS Leeuwin was on the Swan River in Fremantle - we arrived from all over Australia - this was to be our home for the next 12 months. Some of us loved Leeuwin. Others hated it. A few took their optional discharge at 3 months whilst others were shown the door. About three quarters of us passed with flying colours. This little website is a treasury of our days as Junior Recruits.
